1946: The Color Center opened on Water Street in downtown Excelsior Minnesota, founded by Mr. Stans, featuring paint, stain, and wallpaper.
1957: We moved to 284 Water Street (Water Street & 3rd Street) a larger location to accommodate tile, carpet, and dustless sanding.
2006: We relocated half a mile from Water Street to 701 Highway 7 in Excelsior, Minnesota to better showcase our ever-expanding selections.
2010: Carolyn Manhatton took the reins and rebranded the business as Excelsior Paint & Design
2023: Our showroom underwent renovations to elevate the customer experience.

Through the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans, The Giving Tree Project helps put decorated Christmas Trees in the homes of Veterans in need. This last holiday season we fostered two trees and gathered presents for the children in the homes.
Along with my Carpet One cousins in the area, we raised $10,200 for this fundraiser. Each Spring our store donates $10 for every project order for the month of April.
