Carpets versatility in homes is unmatched, and whether you want a basic beige carpet or a different pattern in every room, it’s highly likely that it can be done. The benefits of carpet are not only in style but also in comfort. It is warm, soft and inviting. Carpet could even be a nice place to lay at the end of a long workday with your kids.

Expert Advice - Choosing a Carpet Style

Jim Aaron, our VP of Merchandising for Carpet One Floor & Home, shares some information on the different carpet styles that are available.

Different Types of Carpet

You can install carpet in many different places in your home. It functions best in rooms like dens, living rooms, and bedrooms. Consider a stain-resistant carpet if you’re planning on installing it in areas like hallways, entryways, and stairs. These areas tend to pick up dirt, so preventing wear by choosing a carpet that will stand up to traffic is something to keep in mind. Don’t forget though; you want your house to feel like a home. Remember to think about your overall design and how you want it to look in the end. It’s essential to choose a carpet that gives the best balance of style and function to make you happy.

Carpet is made up of fibers, piles, and backings. The fibers are what make a carpet; they can be synthetic like nylon or natural like wool. The backing is what holds the whole carpet together. There are five main types of carpet, level loop, patterned, textured, frieze, and plush.

Where can Carpet be Installed?

One of the main benefits of carpet is that it provides softness. When you think of the rooms where you would want a soft floor, most people think of bedrooms, living rooms, and offices. Carpet is ideal for these rooms. However, stain-resistant and pet-proof carpet can also be installed in more areas of the home like hallways and stairs. Bathrooms and kitchens are not suitable for carpet because they are high moisture areas.
